The Library holds thousands of magazines rarely collected by other institutions. Fashion and lifestyle magazines offer a unique look at women’s self presentation, their views on controversial topics, and their place within the greater economy. As publishers reach out to more diverse groups, the Library is acquiring titles by and for women from a variety of ethnicities, faiths, and cultures, such as Anokhi, Essence, and Vanidades.

Anokhi, Mississauga, Ont.: OMNECO Optimedia Pub., 2005 or 2006–; Essence, New York: Essence Communications, v. 1- May 1970–; Vanidades, Miami, Fl: Editorial Televisa International
